eddie-v77 Te conozco por Convoy, Gabo. Es increíble los nuevos territorios sonoros y emotivos a los que me llevó su disco. Pude sentir la pasión con el que fue hecho. Me gustó mucho y conmovió

Leo Genovese and Gabriel Puentes are two South American expatriates who headed North in their 20's. Leo, originally from Venado Tuerto, in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, landed in Boston, first as a student and has been a New York resident for over a decade. Gabriel, a native of Santiago, Chile, relocated to Mexico City in 1999. They both met in 2007 in New Orleans as finalists for the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance Scholarship and have been collaborating ever since. In 2008 they recorded together for the first time in what would be Gabriel's first album under his name, "Simple" (piano trio with bassist extraordinaire Chris Lightcap), recorded in New York and published in Barcelona in 2010.

No Somos Dos is Leo and Gabriel's first published effort in a duo setting (after some previous recordings in 2009 and 2011 that never saw the light). It's a 50 minute free improvisation with no instructions nor previous agreement, a raw and honest musical journey of exploration where the duo created and at times obliterated many different musical landscapes. Going from one textural idea to the next, the connection is often telepathic. There's silence, there's cathartic volcanic exuberance, there's nuance and interplay. Mostly, there's no fear. In the midst of it all, two tunes poked out naturally: "Lady Day" by Wayne Shorter and "Coplas a la Luna", a song by folklore songwriter Rolando "Chivo" Valladares, from Tucuman. After the last improvised note, a rendition of Eubie Blake's "Memories of You" was recorded.
    We hope you enjoy.
